The Order of the Silver Star of National Merit is conferred upon Malian citizens in recognition of meritorious service. It may also be conferred upon foreigners, but only under exceptional circumstances.
The Silver Medal (with Bee) is awarded in recognition of loyal, efficient, devoted, and inspired service in the fields of politics, administration, military leadership, economics, art, or social services. Recipients must have a minimum 5 years of service.
The obverse inscription translates to "One People, One Goal, One Faith."
