The Order of Sport Merit is conferred upon Cameroonian citizens in recognition of meritorious contributions to sports and physical education in Cameroon. All members are required to be at least 25 years old.
The President of the Republic of Cameroon is the Grand Master of the Order.
Recipients of the III Class Medal may be promoted to the II Class Medal after a minimum of 3 years, and recipients of the II Class Medal may be promoted to the highest grade after a minimum of 5 years.
There are at least two versions of the Order that vary in inscription.
