History
The Medal for Bravery in a Fire was established on October 31, 1957. This medal was conferred upon firefighters, volunteer firefighters, servicemen, and other citizens, for bravery and self-sacrifice in saving lives and fighting fires. The obverse presents a crossed axe and sledgehammer with a star above and a wreath below. The reverse shows a fireman carrying a child away from a fire.
The composition changes according to the variation. Variation I is made of silver-plated silver alloy. Variation II is made of nickel silver (copper, zinc and nickel alloy).
The obverse Russian inscription translates to: "For Bravery in a Fire".
All pieces with separately soldered-on rings are fake.
