History
This medal was created by Catherine the Great to commemorate the victory over the Turkish Army, in the battle that took place on July 21, 1770.
It was awarded to Russian and Danish enlisted men, and Cossacks. The larger of the two medals was bestowed upon non-commissioned officers.
The obverse inscription translates to: "By the Grace of God Catherine II Empress and Autocrat of All Russias". The reverse inscription translates to: "Kagul 21 July 1770."
