History
The Order of Samoa was instituted by the Legislative Assembly of Samoa by the Honours and Awards Act on August 25, 1999. The Companion is also known as the II Class Order of Samoa. It is conferred upon Samoan citizens, or foreigners by an Honorary Award, in recognition of important national or international contributions made to the people, life, or culture of the State. It is awarded to leaders of corporations, foreign states, or organizations who have provided valuable service and friendship to Samoa.
Companions are limited to 10 members. Companions are entitled to use the post-nominal letters COS.
The award is accompanied with a certificate and a miniature version of the medal and ribbon.
