History

The Fiji Prisons Service Efficient Service Decoration was instituted by the President of Fiji, Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda, by the Honours and Awards Act on March 8, 1995. The Fiji Honours System was established to promote national unity and to celebrate outstanding contributions made in service of the State.

The Medal is awarded to senior prison officers for long and faithful service.

Recipients are entitled to the post-nominal letters ESD.
