History
This Medal is conferred upon members of the Northern Territory Police in recognition of 10 years of full-time or continuous part-time service. Clasps are issued for every 10 years of additional service.
Although this medal was first awarded in June 1999, awards were backdated to 1978 when the Northern Territory Police Service was founded.
The obverse of the medal features the emblem of the North Territory Police Service surrounded by the inscription ‘NORTHERN TERRITORY POLICE SERVICE MEDAL.’ The ribbon suspension bar attaches to the medal with a small circle that depicts two crossed batons. The reverse of the medal is blank and will be pantographed with the recipient’s name. The ribbon is black with a rusty orange stripe in the centre that is flanked by a white stripe on each side.
