History
The Commendation for Brave Conduct was established in 1975 and is awarded to Australian citizens who placed their lives in jeopardy to save the lives or property of others.
The Australian honours system has four bravery awards and the Commendation for Brave Conduct is ranked fourth. It is conferred in recognition of acts of bravery that do not warrant the Star of Courage, Bravery Medal or Service Medal.
The Commendation is a metal sprig of Mimosa that has been attached to the bottom of a red ribbon.
The award may be conferred upon civilians or military personnel. The Commendation for military personnel is worth more. The price for both the military and civilian Commendations will increase with the inclusion of the original citation certificate.
