History

The Abu Dhabi Defence Force Medal was instituted by Abu Dhabi in 1966, prior to the formation of the United Arab Emirates. The Medal was awarded in recognition of loyal service and was discontinued in 1976 following the incorporation of the Abu Dhabi Defence Force into the Federal Armed Forces on the United Arab Emirates.

The reverse features Arabic dates which translate to "10 February 1966" and "6 May 1976."
