History

The Liberation of Kuwait Medal was instituted in 1991 and was awarded to all members of the Federal Armed Forces in recognition of participation with the Allied Forces in the Liberation of Kuwait. Civilians and foreigners may also be eligible for the award in recognition of beneficial contributions to the United Arab Emirates deployment.

The reverse features an Arabic inscription which translates to "Liberation of Kuwait 11 Shaban 1411 Hegira 26 February 1991 Gregorian."
