    The Centennial Medal was established by King Fahd ibn Abdulaziz on January 22, 1999, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Al Saud retaking of Riyadh. The Medal was awarded to Officers, soldiers, and other military personnel who served on January 22, 1999. Members of the Ministry of Defence and Aviation, the National Guard, the Ministry of the Interior, among other departments, were also eligible for the award.
