History

The Royal Guard of Oman Special Service Medal (Midal al-Khidmat al-Khasat al-Haras al-Sultani al-Omani) was instituted by Sultan Qaboos in 1985 in commemoration of the 15th anniversary of independence. The Medal was later amended to reward members of the Royal Guard of Oman for 5 or more years of service.

The obverse features an inscription in Arabic. The reverse features an inscription in Arabic and is dated "1402" and "1985" in Arabic numerals.
