History
The Commendation Medal (Midal ut-Tawsit) was instituted by Sultan Said bin Taimur in 1960. The Medal was originally awarded for acts of bravery which were below that to merit the award of the Gallantry Medal. The Medal was alter extended to reward distinguished service and leadership.
A clasp in the design of a leaf is authorized for wear on the ribbon to denote citations.
The obverse features an inscription in Arabic, translated as "Sultan Qaboos bin Said Sultan of Oman". The reverse features the Arabic inscription "At Tawseet as Sultaneet."
