History

The Order of the Light of Iran or the Light of the Aryans (Nishan-i-Aryamehr) was instituted under the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah in commemoration of the Iranian's house of parliament bestowal of the title "Aryamehr" (Light of the Aryans) upon the Shah. The Order was created as a royal family order and was presented in 2 Classes to female members of the royal family.

The I Class was conferred upon the Shah's queen consort, Queen Farah, as well as the Shah's daughters. The Shah's sisters may also have been eligible or the award.
