History

The Order of Pahlavi was founded by Reza Shah in 1926 as the highest ranked Order during the Pahlavi era. The Order was presented in 2 Classes in recognition of civil merit. The Order was abolished in 1979 with the Islamic Revolution.

The II Class Grand Cordon consists of a Badge of Honour (worn on a sash) and a Breast Star. The II Class was conferred upon Iranian and foreign crown princes. The II Class was restricted to males, however, Queen Fawzieh was presented with the award upon the birth of princess Shahnaz in 1940.

The obverse features a depiction of Mount Damavand.
