History

It is believed that the Medal for Bravery (Military Valour) was established in 1837. The Medal was awarded in 2 Classes.

The I Class is composed of gold.

There are multiple versions of the Medal which vary by the design and inscription according to the date of institution. Later versions of the Medal (instituted since 1876) feature similar designs but different inscriptions of the date. It is thought that the dates signify campaigns or significant military events.
