History
The Martyr/Immortal (Shahid/Javid) Award was presented posthumously to the next of kin of Iranian Officers or soldiers who were killed in action. The closest surviving relative of the deceased, most often the widow, but also mothers, daughters, fathers, and sons, were eligible to receive the honour. The award was issued as a Decoration in 2 Classes as well as a Medal in 2 Classes.
The I Class Decoration features a wreath encircling the badge. The Decoration also features Persian script "Shahid" (Martyr) and "Javid" (Immortal) on the centre of both the sides of the badge. It is uncertain which side is the obverse and which is the reverse, however, it is thought the side which depicts the inscription "Javid" (Immortal) is the obverse.
The Decoration is worn by women from a bow on the shoulder and by men from a ribbon on the breast.
