History

The Culture and Arts (Farhang va Honar) Decoration was created to encourage and honour services in science, research, and art which contribute to the advancement of arts and culture in Iran. The Decoration was awarded in 3 Classes by the Iranian High Council of Culture to Iranian and foreign scientists, researchers, and artists, whose work is regarded by international standards to be of significant value to the advancement of art and culture.

The II Class Decoration was awarded to personnel who make available important Iranian works of art and notable literary pieces and publications to an international audience or who have aided in the maintenance and development of institutions for the perseverance of Iranian artistic and cultural heritage.
