History
The Coronation of Shahanshah and Shahbanu Medal may also be known as the Medal of the Coronation of Mohammad Reza Shah. Even though Mohammad Reza Shah's accession to the throne occurred 26 years earlier in 1942, the Medal was instituted on October 26, 1967.
A bronze Pahlavi crown emblem is authorized for wear on the ribbon.
The Bronze Medal features Persian script on the reverse which translates to "In Celebration of the Coronation of HIM Mohammad Reza Pahlavi Aryamehr Shahanshah of Iran [and] Her Majesty Farah Pahlavi Empress of Iran" along with the Persian date "4 Aban 1346 HS" which corresponds to October 26, 1967.
Additional versions of the Medal which vary by composition may be encountered, but it is uncertain if these are official.
