The CENTO Commemorative Award was established in 1955 in commemoration of the Baghdad pact of the Central Treaty Organization (CENTO), which was modelled after the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and was composed of the nations of Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. The award was presented in 2 Classes before it was made obsolete following the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
