History

The Order of Bravery (Nishan-i-Shuja'at) was instituted by King Amanu'llah in 1919. The Order may also be known as the Order of Military Gallantry and was presented in a single class in recognition of acts of gallantry. It is believed that the Order was expanded into 5 Classes in 1923, however, more research is necessary to confirm. The Order is thought to have been made obsolete in 1973.

Additional versions of the Order which vary by design and composition according to the period of issue or instituting Monarch are expected to exist. However, due to the uncertainty, complixeity, and lack of information regarding the background and structure of the award, separate versions are not listed here.
