History

The National Service Order (Nishan-i-Loi Khan) was established by King Amanu'llah in 1919. The Order was created to reward patriotic service and to promote national unity and internal progress. The Order was awarded in 3 Classes to Afghan citizens and was made obsolete in 1973 following the overthrow of the Afghan Monarchy.

Recipients of the Order were entitled to land grants.
