History

Wilhelm Heinrich Kammerer was born in Saxony, Germany in 1786. It is likely that he was the brother of Friedrich Kammerer, another well known St. Petersburg jeweller. Wilhelm Kammerer was taught by Carl Heinrich Rudolf. He became a journeyman in 1804. Two years later in 1806 he became a master goldsmith and a colleague in the St. Petersburg foreign craft guild. He entered the Keibel firm in 1836. In 1841, Kammerer left Keibel. He made insignia for all of the Russian orders at the time. From 1849 until his death, his workshop was located in Sutkov's House on the Nevsky Prospekt. Wilhelm Kammerer's maker mark was "W.K."
