History

In 1918, Francisco Vilardebo opened a house of jewellery on Cardenas Street, shortly after moving to Havana from Spain. At first, he and his partner Emilio Riera imported European made products, but they began producing their own in the 1920s. The firm became known for high quality work and made items for Spain, Cuba, Haiti, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

In 1926, they relocated to Calles Dragones No. 53. Vilardebo died in 1934. Three years later, Riera changed the firm name to Antigua Vilardebo and Riera. Due to the revolutions in 1959, the firm closed in 1960.
