This firm was originally founded by Richard and Moritz Glaser in 1868, located in Borngasse 5. Shortly after, the firm began working under the name Glaser & Sohn.

On February 14, 1945, the company in Dresden's old town was completely destroyed.

The company began the tradition of minting in 1972, after they had recovered from the war.
