History
The Achievement Badge was introduced in 1937 and it was awarded at an annual championship to an individual in every branch of sport. The Badge was originally established by the National Socialist Physical Training League (NSRL) and it was later adopted by the NSRL's predecessor, the German National Physical Education Union (DRL).
There are two versions of the Achievement Badge in Bronze. One badge features the year of issue on the obverse, the other does not. There is also a version of the badge that was produced out of cloth. The cloth badge was worn on the physical fitness kit of the recipient.
The Bronze Badge (with year, 1937-1944) was conferred upon individuals who were successful in one particular branch of sport. The individual was only permitted to wear the badge for a year. If an individual won four badges featuring the year, they were entitled to a badge without the year, which they could wear permanently.
The Bronze Badge (without year) was conferred upon individuals who had been successful in numerous branches of sport. The individual was permitted to wear the badge indefinitely.
