History

The Badge was conferred in recognition of exceptional achievement in the field of heavy athletics, such as weight lifting, body building, tug of war, and boxing.

The Type II badges have a swastika on the obverse and do not feature the acronym for the German Athletics Sports Federation "Deutscher Schwerathletik-Verband" (DSAV).
