History

In the spring of 1940, a standardised uniform for female SS staff was introduced. Female personnel were issued a grey tunic and skirt, a blouse, a cap, two pairs of boots, socks, and a pair of regular shoes. The uniforms were to be worn without personal accessories, such as jewellery.

The female auxiliary tunic was manufactured out of dark green/grey wool and features two pockets on the lower skirt, as well as a single breast pocket. The tunic closes with five large black buttons and the waist is slightly cinched. An SS-pattern eagle is sewn to the upper left sleeve.

The tunic was plain with three pockets to the front and a 'fake' belt at the rear. Only the Helferinnen ( not the Kriegshelferinnen ) were allowed to wear the tunic with a cuff title, unit emblems and SS runes on the front breast pocket. Both groups were permitted to wear the sleeve eagle but no collar tabs were specifically produced nor were standard SS ones worn by either group. The only cuff title permitted was 'Reichsschule - SS' and then only by those who had successfully completed the training at Oberehnheim.
