History

The SS Supplementary Reserve Companies were established in every SS district and were composed of Allgemeine SS members who were above the age of 45.

Members of these special units wore the SS uniform with similar rank and unit collar tabs compared to regular active members, but with grey instead of black collar tabs.

Officers wore aluminum threads on a light grey background, while Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and Enlisted Men (EMs) wore black threads on light grey.

Officers wore aluminum twist cord piping, while that for NCOs and EMs was alternating aluminum and black twist cord piping.

The stripes worn on indicate ranks on certain collar tabs were also inverted. Instead of using a black/aluminum/black pattern, these units used an aluminum/black/aluminum pattern instead. The rank pips were bronze-coloured rather than silver-coloured. However, the oakleaves for ranks of Standartenführer and above were still made of aluminum.

The unit collar tab featured the wearer's unit number in Arabic numerals, similar to those of SS Foot Regiments, but with the inverted colour design.
