History

The members of the SS-Funkschutz were responsible for protecting radio stations. The unit was also responsible for detecting the reception of illegal radio broadcasts.

The silver-coloured gorget features a gilt finished banner with the inscription“SS-Funkschutz”. The reverse is covered with dark blue or black cloth and features a small silver piece of metal with the SS emblem, RZM logo, and maker’s number.

The gorget chain is made up of alternating open wire links and solid links. The ends of the chain are secured to chain hangers on the reverse of the gorget.
