History
In June of 1939, a white service tunic and visor cap was introduced for wear during the summer months. The uniform was authorised for wear from April until September.
The uniform was quite costly and as a result, it was purchased by very few members of the Allgemeine SS.
The black cap band is lined with white piping. The peak of the cap is lined with silver piping for General ranks and black piping for all other ranks. Some caps have been found piped in white on the cap peak as well, however, this seems to be a misunderstanding on the part of the manufacturer.
The bottom edge of the cap features black wool along the exterior. The cap’s visor is manufactured out of vulcanised fibre. Generals and Officers wore a silver-coloured chin cord secured directly above the visor, while NCO/EM ranks used a black leather strap.
The interior of the cap is lined with orange silk-cotton and features a celluloid diamond with golden SS runes.
