History

Dagger and sword accoutrements were used to hang and suspend the edged weapons from, or in some cases to decorate them.
Just like the weapons themselves, the designs and quality of the accoutrements was eventually controlled by the RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei = national quartermaster’s office).
Leather parts of accoutrements used by the SS were generally black.

On rare occasions, generally with the dress uniform, a brocade or bullion hanger was worn. The brocade was machine-sewn to a black leather base. The hanger features a snap clip on one end, as well as a short chain and clip on the other end. It is completed by a rectangular metal buckle.

Like the Teardrop Hanger, this device could be worn under the tunic through a slit under the left pocket.
