History

Initially, the HJ War Auxiliaries in the Luftwaffe, known colloquially as Flak Helpers (Flakhelfer), wore the regular HJ uniforms. Only in 1943 they were given their very own type of uniform.

The woolen winter coat is single-breasted and of Luftwaffe blue-grey colour. It has four pockets, two pleated patch breast pockets with a buttoned flap, and two slash hip pockets with an unbuttoned flap. Six blue-grey pebbled metal buttons close it at the front.
It was worn closed at the neck. For that purpose, it was secured by a hook and eye.

The back sports a wide overlapping cloth belt, which was secured by two horizontal metal buttons, again in Luftwaffe blue-grey. Below that began a long slit that can be buttoned.
