History
The shapeless Fatigue Trousers were introduced on April 1, 1933. They were worn by all recruits, as well as privates during certain activities, like fatigue duty, work details, training manoeuvres etc. The colour is an off-white, and they were produced in a herringbone pattern. In 1940 the colour changed to reed-green.
The trousers have two side pockets without buttons.
In 1943 Belted Trousers (“Rundbundhosen”) were introduced for wear in the warmer climates of southern Europe and southern Russia. The fatigue version of these was made of reed-green drill cloth. The legs are straight, not tapered. There is a button on both sides of the bottom of the legs so they could be adjusted, and the trousers worn with different types of footwear.
