History
The Colonial Police Long Service Medal was originally instituted by King George V on March 23, 1934, but reissued as the Overseas Territories Police Long Service Medal by Queen Elizabeth II in 2012. The Silver Medal was initially awarded to Junior Officers of Colonial police forces upon the completion of 18 years of exemplary service but has since been extended to reward Officers of all ranks.
A clasp is awarded to denote 25 years of service and a second clasp may be awarded to denote 30 years of service. A silver rosette may be worn on the ribbon to denote the award of a clasp when the ribbon is worn alone.
The Medal is similar in design to the Colonial Police Long Service, but features the reverse inscription, "OVERSEAS TERRITORIES POLICE FORCES FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT."
The Medal features the recipient's name and service details engraved on the rim, but a variety of different naming styles were used.
