History

The British Fire Services Association Medal was established in 1949 and awarded to members of the British Fire Services Association in recognition of long and efficient service. The Medal is awarded in 2 grades. The Silver Medal rewards 20 years of service while the Bronze Medal rewards 10 years of service. The Silver and Bronze Medals feature distinctive ribbons.

A clasp may be awarded to denote an additional 5 years of service.

The Medal features an obverse design that is similar to the obverse design of the Association of Professional Fire Brigade Officers Long Service Medal and a reverse design that is similar, asides for the inscription, to the obverse design of the National Fire Brigades Lons Service Medal

The Medal was initially issued with a scrolled suspender bar inscribed "BFSA" but was later issued with a straight suspender.
