History
The Army Emergency Reserve Decoration was established on November 17, 1952, and awarded to members of the Army Reserve in recognition of 12 years of commissioned service. Officers who provided service in the Army Supplementary Reserve or the Army Emergency Reserve of offices between 1942 and 1948 who transferred to the Regular Army Reserve of Officers after 10 years of service are also eligible. Service during wartime counted as double while service in other ranks counted as half. The award was discontinued in 1967 following the introduction of Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve.
The Decoration is awarded with an "ARMY EMERGENCY RESERVE" clasp.
Recipients are entitled to the post-nominal letters "ERD".
