History
The Rhodesia Medal was instituted by the British government in 1980 to reward British and Rhodesian forces for 14 days or more of peace-keeping service in Rhodesia leading up to the Zimbabwean independence from December 1, 1979, to March 20, 1980. The Silver Medal was awarded to members of military and police forces and eligible civilian personnel. Recipients of the Rhodesia Medal also received the Zimbabwean Independence Medal. It is estimated that 2500 Medals were issued.
The Medal was generally issued named, but unnamed versions are known.
