History
The Multinational Force and Observers Medal was instituted on March 24, 1982, for service in the Sinai Peninsula. The Bronze Medal was awarded to personnel of the Multinational Forces and Observers (MFO), established in 1979, from Australia, Canada, Colombia, Fiji, France, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States, and Uruguay personnel who took part in peacekeeping operations between Egypt and Iraq. Initially, 90 days of service qualified for the award, but the qualifying period was later raised to 170 days.
A silver numeral, beginning with the number "2", is awarded for each additional 6 months of service and may be worn on the ribbon.
