History
The INTERFET Medal was established by the Australian Prime Minister and instituted by Queen Elizabeth the II on March 7, 2000. The Silver Medal was initially created to reward members of the Australian Defence Force for East Timor. However, the award was later expanded to international recipients for 30 days of service during the INTERFET stage of conflict between September 16, 1999, and April 10, 2000. It is estimated that 15 046 Medals have been issued.
