History
The Louisburg Medal was instituted in 1758 to reward members of the British Army and Navy for service during the siege of Louisburg in the Seven Years War. The Medal was awarded in Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
The Medal features a Latin inscription on the obverse that translates to “Equal in Wars.” It was issued unnamed and without a suspension, although it is common to encounter privately altered wearable versions that are worn on a yellow and blue ribbon.
