History
The Accumulated Campaign Service Medal was instituted by Queen Elizabeth II in January of 1994 to reward long campaign service in theatres of war where the General Service Medal 1962-2007, Operational Service Medal, and Iraq Medal have been awarded. The Silver Medal is awarded to all branches of the Armed Forces who have received the General Service Medal 1962-2007 for 36 months of aggregated service since August 14, 1969.
Every additional period of 36 months of accumulated service is denoted by the award of a silver clasp. Recipients of a clasp are entitled to wear a silver rosette on the ribbon when the ribbon is worn alone. A gilt rosette is worn to denote the award of 4 clasps, 2 gilt rosettes are worn to denote the award of an additional 3 clasps, and 3 gilt rosettes are worn to denote the award of another 3 clasps.
Recipients of the General Service Medal 1962-2007 who are part time members of the Royal Irish Regiment are eligible to receive the award of the Accumulated Campaign Service Medal upon the completion of only 1000 days of accumulated service.
