History

The s'Hertogenbosch Medal was established by William VI, Prince of Orange-Nassau, and future King William I, in 1814. It was awarded to civilians of 's-Hertogenbosch (also known as Den Bosch, or Bois-le-Duc) in recognition of courageous actions during the expulsion of the French in the same year.

The Silver Medal features a reverse inscription that translates to "For Courage and Patriotism." A total of 42 were awarded.
