History

This Medal was conferred upon Hungarian citizens who had rendered meritorious service in their field of labour, and whose work had promoted the dissemination and consolidation of socialist ideology.

The Type II medals take the form of a star surrounded by a gold coloured wreath. There are two main versions of the Type II medals.

The medals conferred from 1953 to 1956 have the 1949-1956 emblem of the Hungarian People’s Republic on the obverse. These medals were awarded to 7092 recipients.

The medals conferred from 1956 to 1989 have the 1957-1989 emblem of the Hungarian People’s Republic on the obverse. These medals were awarded to 8001 recipients.
