History

Waffen-SS musicians wore traditional shoulder pieces known as "Schwalbennester" (swallow's nests) due to their shape. These were in the same design as the ones used by the German Army and other organisations.

Waffen-SS swallow's nests are made of black cloth with with aluminum tress and aluminum fringe. The fringe for bandsmen is 3 cms long, whereas the fringe for drum majors is 7 cms long.
