History
The Civil Long Service Medal was established on May 20, 1853 by Prince Friedrich Günther. It was conferred upon servants who rendered long and faithful service to the prince. In order to receive the award, a potential recipient had to have distinguished themselves through discretion, loyalty, and self-sacrificing devotion. The award was primarily issued to low-ranking servants.
The obverse of the medal features a crowned rampaging lion. The reverse of the medal features the initials "FG" surmounted by a crown.
In 1857, the Schwarzburg Honour Cross was established as an order. The Civil Long Service Medal was incorporated into the order as the Honour Medal.
