History
The Long Service Decoration for Domestic Service was instituted on September 16, 1886 by Duke Ernst I. The decoration was conferred upon male and female domestic servants who had rendered at least 30 years of irreproachable and uninterrupted service with the same employer.
As of 1895, service time began to be counted after a domestic servant turned 21.
The original name of the Cross is "Ehrenauszeichnung für Arbeiter und Dienstboten nach 30 Dienstjahren".
