Physical Description
A circular medal with a raised border, constructed of silver. The obverse features a wreath of laurel on the left and oak leaves on the right, tied at the bottom by a ribbon, with the centre featuring a crowned letter ‘L’ above the date ‘1882/83’ above a decorative line. The reverse features a wreath of laurel on the left and oak leaves on the right, tied at the bottom by a ribbon, with the inscription ‘FÜR RETTUNG AUS LEBENS-GEFAHR’ in the centre. On a loop for suspension, on a red ribbon with narrow light blue side stripes.
History
The Honour Decoration for the Flood, 1882-1883 was conferred upon individuals who put their own lives in danger to save others during the flood of 1882/1883.
