Physical Description
An ovular medal constructed of silver. The obverse bears a Leopold cross with the image of Hamburg castle in the centre, encompassed by a border with the inscription "HAMBURGER BÜRGER MILITÄR GESTIFTET D.15 JANUAR 1865". The reverse bears the Roman numeral "XXV" encompassed by a wreath of oak and laurel tied with a ribbon in a bow at the bottom. On a loop for suspension, on a half red and half white ribbon.
History
The City Police Long Service Medal was established on January 15, 1865 by the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The date is also the 50th anniversary of the police service in the city.
The Silver Medal was conferred upon members of Hamburg's Police Force who had rendered 25 years of loyal service.
