Physical Description
A circular medal constructed of silvered tombac or bronze. The obverse bears the image of a Luitpold cross with a Bavarian coat of arms in the centre, encompassed by a wreath. The inscription "TREUE DIENSTE BEI DER FAHNE" (loyal services to the flag) lays in the quadrants between the arms. The reverse bears a shield with the inscription "IX" (9) encompassed by a wreath. The wreath is encompassed by the inscription "DIENSTAUSZEICHNUNG II. KLASSE IX" (service award 2nd class 9). On a loop for suspension with a light blue and white ribbon.
History
The Military Long Service Cross and Medal was issued under Prince Regent Luitpold on August 30, 1913. It was awarded in recognition of long and faithful military service.
The III Class Medal was awarded for 9 years of service.
